Bright colored flowers with short stems can withstand windy conditions. Flowers open almost flat to a star with bright inside coloring and close to a cone shaped bud at night. Also called 'Water Lily Tulips.' Species tulips often have more natural-looking blooms than their hybrid relatives. T. chrysantha is Rosy-red with a yellow interior. Species tulips look stunning planted in wild, natural areas of the garden, where they should be planted in informal sweeps. Great when left to naturalize and multiply to produce masses of flowers year after year. As these Tulips are fairly short, they look great in rock gardens and containers.
